Japan CCS was awarded the “Certificate of Merit for Outstanding Contribution” from The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers, Power & Energy Systems Division.

Japan CCS was awarded the “Certificate of Merit for Outstanding Contribution” from The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers, Power & Energy Systems Division, for the “World’s First Demonstration of Liquefied Carbon Dioxide Transport by Ship Under Low-Temperature, Low-Pressure Conditions”.

This project is a research & development and demonstration project by NEDO (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization) aimed at establishing technology for the ship transport of liquefied CO₂. The project involved establishing an integrated ship-to-shore system covering the entire process—from CO₂ liquefaction, storage, ship transport to ship-to-shore handling, and through round-trip transport demonstration between bases approximately 1,000 km apart, comprehensively verified the feasibility of the system in terms of safety, operability, and economic viability.

This award is in recognition of the project’s achievement of being the first in the world to demonstrate ship-to-shore handling and ship transport of liquefied CO₂ under low-temperature, low-pressure conditions.
