Japan CCS held its annual CCS Forum and field trip on March 14 (Sat), 2026.

Hosted by Japan CCS, the annual CCS Forum under the theme “Global Warming and CCS” was held in Tomakomai, Hokkaido, with an attendance of 185 people. In the morning, 40 people participated in a field trip to the Tomakomai CCS Demonstration Center.

Part 1 was a talk entitled “Global warming as seen from the frozen sea”, presented by Dr. Kazutaka Tateyama, Associate Professor, School of Earth, Energy and Environmental Engineering, Environmental Protection and Disaster Prevention Course, Kitami Institute of Technology, National University Corporation Hokkaido Higher Education and Research System.

Part 2 was a talk entitled “Japan’s GX/CCS policy and Tomakomai” given by Mr. Masaki Tone, Director, Carbon Management Division, Natural Resources and Fuel Department, the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy (ANRE), the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI).
