Japan CCS Co., Ltd. has supported the Bureau of Economic Geology of the University of Texas at Austin in the project “Field Validation of MVA Technology for Offshore CCS: Novel Ultra-High-Resolution 3D Marine Seismic Technology (P-Cable).” The project was implemented under the Memorandum of Cooperation, signed between the U.S. Department of Energy and the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) in April 2015 to foster collaboration on carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies. Using funds provided by DOE, the University of Texas successfully deployed their P-Cable at Tomakomai, acquiring high resolution 3D data.
