Japan CCS presented at 8th International Workshop on Offshore Geological CO2 Storage.

On April 20-21, the “8th International Workshop on Offshore Geological CO2 Storage“ was held in Bergen, Norway. Japan CCS made a presentation entitled “Tomakomai CCS Demonstration Project – Key results”’ in Session 1b: International Project Roundup – Asia Pacific. Co-organized by the Bureau of Economic Geology (BEG) at the University of Texas and the IEAGHG, this workshop is a forum where project implementers, policymakers, and CCS technology researchers involved in offshore CCS projects from around the world gather to share information and discuss the current status and challenges of the projects. As the 8th event, approximately 250 participants from 17 countries (including about 150 online attendees) reported on the status of more than 40 projects. On the day after the workshop, a tour of the onshore facilities for the Northern Lights project—which began operations in 2025—was held, and fortunately, NORTHERN PIONEER, the project’s first CO2 transport vessel, was docked nearby, allowing a close-up view of the ship.
